D. Procedure
S 864-002
(1) Set the switch and the circuit breaker:
(a)
Set the APU master switch on the P5 forward overhead panel to the OFF position and install a DO-NOT-OPERATE tag.
(b)
Open this circuit breaker and install a DO-NOT-CLOSE tag: 1) E3-3 Electrical Shelf, APU Control Unit

(2) Open the APU cowl door:
(a)
Open the latches for the APU cowl door.
(b)
Open the APU cowl door.
(c)
Connect the door support rods.

CAUTION:_______BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU MOVE THE LOWER SHROUD. DAMAGE TO THE SHROUD DRAIN LINES CAN OCCUR.
(3) Remove the lower shroud:
(a)
Hold the lower shroud and open the shroud latches.
(b)
Remove the shroud.

CAUTION: THE ELECTRICAL LEADS MUST BE TAGGED WITH THE APPLICABLE STARTER
_______ MOTOR TERMINALS TO PREVENT ALL INCORRECT CONNECTIONS. AN ELECTRICAL LEAD THAT IS INCORRECTLY ATTACHED CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE APU WHEN THE APU IS STARTED.
(4) Disconnect the electrical leads from the starter motor terminals:
(a)
Remove the nuts from the starter motor terminals.
(b)
Remove the electrical leads from the starter motor terminals.
(c)
Tag the electrical leads.
(d)
Tag the starter motor terminals.

(5) Remove the starter motor from the mount pad on the gearbox assembly:
(a) Put the container below the starter motor.
NOTE: Oil may be released when the starter motor is removed
____
from the mount pad.
(b)
Loosen the nuts and the washers that hold the starter motor to the mount pad.
(c)
Carefully remove the starter motor from the mount pad on the
gearbox assembly.
NOTE: To remove the starter motor from the gearbox assembly,
____ pull the starter motor in a straight line. This will prevent damage to the starter motor.
(d)
Remove the packing from the mount pad for the starter motor.
(e)
Discard the packing.

CAUTION: IF THE STARTER MOTOR CLUTCH IS BROKEN, YOU MUST EXAMINE THE
_______ GEARBOX ASSEMBLY FOR PIECES OF THE STARTER MOTOR CLUTCH. DAMAGE TO THE APU CAN OCCUR IF YOU LET PIECES FROM THE STARTER MOTOR CLUTCH STAY IN THE GEARBOX ASSEMBLY.
(6) If the starter motor clutch is broken, remove all parts of the starter motor clutch from the gearbox assembly:
