 1.  General_______
 A.  This procedure contains the removal and installation tasks for the
 thermocouple probe of the exhaust gas temperature.

 TASK 49-71-21-004-001
 2.  Exhaust Gas Temperature Thermocouple Probe Removal (Fig. 401)__________________________________________________
 A.  Access
 (1)

 101 Control Cabin, LH
 205 Electronic Compartment

 1201 Electronic Equipment Access Door
 3804 APU Cowl Door

 

 B.  Procedure
 S 864-002
 (1)  Set the switch and the circuit breaker:
 (a)  
Set the APU master switch on the P5 forward overhead panel to the OFF position and attach a DO-NOT-OPERATE tag.

 (b)  
Open this circuit breaker and attach a DO-NOT-CLOSE tag: 1) E3-3 Electrical Shelf, APU Control Unit


 S 014-003
 (2)  Open the APU cowl door:
 (a)  
Open the latches for the APU cowl door.

 (b)  
Open the APU cowl door.

 (c)  
Connect the door support rods.


 S 034-005
 CAUTION:_______BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU MOVE THE LOWER SHROUD. DAMAGE TO THE SHROUD DRAIN LINES CAN OCCUR.
 (3)  Remove the lower shroud:
 (a)  
Hold the lower shroud and open the shroud latches.

 (b)  
Remove the lower shroud.


 S 024-006
 (4)  Remove the thermocouple probe of the exhaust gas temperature:
 (a)  
Disconnect the leads from the thermocouple probe terminals.

 (b)  
Remove the bolts and washers that attach the thermocouple probe.

 3. Exhaust Gas Temperature Thermocouple Probe Installation (Fig. 401)

 C. Procedure
 S 724-009
 (1)  
Do a test on the thermocouple probe (AMM 49-71-21/501).

 S 424-008

 (2)
Install the thermocouple probe of the exhaust gas temperature:


 (a)  Put the thermocouple probe into the flange of the turbine exhaust port.
 NOTE: Make sure the small (chromel) terminal on the probe
____ points in the aft direction.
 (b)  
Apply a layer of antiseize compound to the attach bolts for the thermocouple probe.

 (c)  
Install the bolts with the washers.

 (d)  
Connect the alumel (green) lead to the larger terminal and the chromel (white) lead to the smaller terminal of the thermocouple probe.

 CAUTION: KEEP A MINIMUM CLEARANCE OF 0.18 INCH (5 MM) BETWEEN THE
