Open the APU cowl door.

 (c)  
Connect the door support rods.

 CAUTION:_______BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU MOVE THE LOWER SHROUD. DAMAGE TO THE SHROUD DRAIN LINES CAN OCCUR.
 (3)  Remove the lower shroud:
 (a)  
Hold the lower shroud and open the shroud latches.

 (b)  
Remove the lower shroud.


 S 912-006
 (4)  Supply external electrical power to the airplane (AMM 24-22-00/201).
 NOTE: The ac power is necessary to operate the aft boost pump
____
 in the No. 1 fuel tank.

 S 872-008
 (5)  Bleed the fuel supply hose to the fuel control unit:
 (a)  
Put the container below the fuel control unit.

 (b)  
Set the No. 1 AFT FUEL PUMP switch, on the P5 forward overhead panel, to the ON position.


 NOTE: If you must use the fuel boost pumps in the
____ center tank, you must have a maintenance person or observer in the flight compartment to continuously monitor the LOW PRESSSURE lights. Turn the applicable fuel boost pump to the OFF position if the LOW PRESSURE light for the center tank stays on.
 (c)  
Remove the DO-NOT-CLOSE tag and close this circuit breaker:
 1) E3-3 Electrical Shelf, APU Control Unit


 (d)  
Remove the DO-NOT-OPERATE tag from the APU master switch and
 set the APU master switch to the ON position.

 

 NOTE: Do not move the APU master switch to the START position.
____
 It is not necessary to start the APU.

 (e)  Loosen the fuel supply hose from the inlet hose for the fuel
 control unit.

 NOTE: Do not remove the fuel supply hose.
____
 (f)  
Let the fuel drain into the container.

 (g)  
Tighten the fuel supply hose to the inlet hose for the fuel
 control unit.


 (h)  
Set the APU master switch, on the P5 forward overhead panel, to the OFF position and attach a DO-NOT-OPERATE tag.

(i)  
Open this circuit breaker and attach a DO-NOT-CLOSE tag: 1) E3-3 Electrical Shelf, APU Control Unit

 (j)  
Set the No. 1 AFT FUEL PUMP switch, on the P5 forward overhead panel, to the OFF position.

 (k)  
Remove the container with the fuel from below the fuel control unit.


 S 912-009
 (6)  Remove the external electrical power from the airplane
 (AMM 24-22-00/201).

 S 412-010
 CAUTION: KEEP A MINIMUM CLEARANCE OF 0.18 INCHES (5 MM) BETWEEN THE
_______
 ENGINE, FIRE DETECTOR, CLAMPS AND LOWER SHROUD.

 BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU MOVE THE LOWER SHROUD. DAMAGE TO THE SHROUD DRAIN LINES CAN OCCUR.
 (7)  Install the lower shroud:
 (a)  
Hold the lower shroud against the upper shroud.
