Turn the support bracket out of the way.
(f)
Remove the filter head from the fitting for the fuel pump inlet.
(g)
Remove and discard the packing.
(h)
Remove the elbow from the inlet side of the filter head assembly. 1) Remove and discard the packing. 2) Keep the fitting to install on the replacement filter
assembly.
(i)
Install the filter bowl on the filter head assembly.
(j)
Install the caps and plugs on all the disconnected lines and ports to prevent contamination.

C. Procedure
S 424-008
(1) Install the fuel filter assembly:
(a)
Remove the caps and plugs from all the disconnected lines and ports.
(b)
Remove the filter bowl from the filter head assembly.
(c)
Install a new packing on the elbow.
(d)
Install the elbow in the inlet port on the filter head assembly. 1) Do not tighten the jamnut at this time.
(e)
Install a new packing on the fuel pump fitting.
(f)
Install the filter head on the fitting. 1) Do not tighten the jamnut at this time.
(g)
Put the filter support bracket in its position and install the bolt, the washer, and the nut. 1) Tighten the nut and the jamnut on the seal drain outlet of
the fuel control unit.

Put the filter assembly in its correct position and tighten the jamnut on the fuel pump fitting.
(i)
Connect the fuel hose to the elbow on the filter head assembly. 1) Tighten the hose nut and the jamnut on the elbow fitting.

(2) Do this task: "Low Pressure Fuel Filter Element Installation" (AMM 49-31-22/401).
