OIL COOLER - REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

1. General________
A. This procedure gives the steps to remove and to install the oil cooler. The oil cooler is found on the forward end of the APU power plant.

C. Procedure

(1) Set the switch and the circuit breaker:
(a)
Set the APU master switch on the P5 forward overhead panel to the OFF position and attach a DO-NOT-OPERATE tag.
(b)
Open this circuit breaker and attach a DO-NOT-CLOSE tag. 1) E3-3 Electrical Shelf, APU Control Unit

(2) Open the APU cowl door:
(a)
Open the latches for the APU cowl door.
(b)
Open the APU cowl door.
(c)
Connect the door support rods.

CAUTION:_______BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU MOVE THE LOWER SHROUD. DAMAGE TO THE SHROUD DRAIN LINES CAN OCCUR.
(3) Remove the lower shroud:
(a) Hold the lower shroud and open the shroud latches.

(b) Remove the lower shroud.

(4) Remove the oil cooler:
(a)
Disconnect the electrical plug from the elapsed time indicator.
(b)
Disconnect electrical leads from the circuit breaker terminals. 1) Put tags on the electrical leads.
(c)
Disconnect the inlet line for the oil cooler from the fitting on the oil cooler.
(d)
Disconnect the outlet line for the oil cooler from the fitting on the oil cooler.
(e)
Remove the clamp that attaches the crossover duct for the cooling air to the oil cooler.
(f)
Remove the packing for the oil cooler. 1) Discard the packing.
(g)
Remove the clamp that attaches the oil cooler to the bracket on the side of the accessory drive gearbox.
(h)
Remove the oil cooler.
(i)
If the elapsed time indicator will be replaced, remove the elapsed time indicator (AMM 49-72-11/401).
