If the fuel solenoid valve was removed from the fuel control unit, install the fuel solenoid valve (AMM 49-31-31/401).

If the low pressure fuel filter was removed from the fuel control unit, install the low pressure fuel filter (AMM 49-31-21/401).

Install the fuel control unit to the APU:


 (a)  Remove the caps and the plugs from all the disconnected lines and the ports.

(b)  FUEL CONTROL UNIT WITH THE DRIVE SHAFT; Lubricate the drive shaft: 1) Pull the drive shaft out in a straight line to remove it
 from the fuel control unit. 2) Apply a thin layer of grease to the flat areas of the
 square drive. 3) Install the drive shaft into the fuel control unit. 4) Apply a thin layer of grease to the teeth on the drive
 shaft for the fuel control unit.
 (c)  
FUEL CONTROL UNIT WITH THE SPIDER COUPLING ASSEMBLY; Lubricate the half shaft splined coupling: 1) Apply a thin layer of grease to the teeth on the half shaft

 splined coupling.

 (d)  
Carefully put the fuel control unit in its position on the mounting studs. 1) Make sure the drive shaft or half shaft splined coupling

 for the fuel control unit engages the gear shaft of the accessory drive.

 (e)  
Install the washers and nuts that attach the fuel control unit to the APU engine.


 NOTE: You do not have to install the nut at the 9 o'clock
____ position (when looking aft). This will make the installation of the fuel control unit easier.
 1)  Tighten the nuts to 70-90 pound-inches
 (7.9-10.2 newton-meters).

 (f)  
Connect the control air line (compressor discharge air) to the T-fitting adjacent to the base of the fuel control unit.

 (g)  
Connect the control air line (compressor discharge air) and the control air line (thermostat) to the Y-fitting on the fuel control unit.

 (h)  
Connect the electrical plug to the fuel solenoid valve. 1) Install a lockwire to the electrical plug.

 (i)  
Connect the high pressure fuel line to the elbow on the fuel solenoid valve.

 (j)  
Connect the fuel hose to the elbow on the low pressure fuel filter.

Do a check of the high pressure bleed for the APU fuel system (AMM 49-31-00/201).

During the APU operation, examine the fuel control unit for leakage.

 (b)  
If you found leakage, repair the cause of it.


 NOTE: A fuel leakage rate of 1 drop for each minute (2.5 cc
____ for each hour) is permitted from the fuel control unit.

 (a)  After the APU operation test, make sure the APU master switch, on the P5 forward overhead panel, is in the OFF position.

 (a)  If you found signs of leakage, repair the cause of it.
