(5) Set the circuit breaker and the switch:
(a)
Remove the DO-NOT-CLOSE tag and close this circuit breaker: 1) E3-3 Electrical Shelf, APU Control Unit
(b)
Remove the DO-NOT-OPERATE tag from the APU master switch on the P5 forward overhead panel.

(1) Install the exhaust duct muffler into the heat shield
(AMM 49-81-11/401):

CAUTION: INSTALL THE AFT FAIRING ASSEMBLY SLOWLY WHILE IT GOES THROUGH
_______ THE AIRPLANE TAIL CONE. MAKE SURE THE FIRE DETECTION ELEMENTS DO NOT HIT THE AIRPLANE STRUCTURE. THE FIRE DETECTION ELEMENTS CAN BE DAMAGED.
(2)
Put the aft fairing assembly on the airplane tail cone.

Install the special tools and equipment (Fig. 402):
(a)
Install the flange assembly and the reaction plate assembly (Ref par. 3).
(b)
Assemble the take-up rod and the rod extension assembly.
(c)
Install the take-up rod in the reaction plate assembly.
(d)
Install the rod handle which is kept with the reaction plate.
(e)
Put the puller plate assembly into the exhaust pipe so that it is against the exhaust duct muffler. The puller plate assembly must also be on the end of the rod extension assembly.
(f)
Install the puller plate assembly to the rod extension with the pressure pad assembly and the ball lockpin.

(4) Install the aft fairing assembly: (a) Align the aft fairing assembly with the shroud bellmouth. (b) Turn the take-up rod until the aft fairing assembly engages with the shroud bellmouth. The aft fairing assembly must be tight against the airplane tail cone. (c) Install and tighten the screws that attach the aft fairing to the airplane tail cone (Fig. 401).
