FUEL SENSING FLOW CONTROL VALVE - ADJUSTMENT/TEST

1. General
_______
A. This procedure gives the task to do a test of the fuel sensing flow control valve (which is referred to as the 'flow control valve'). This test procedure is for the fuel heater system. The airflow is measured from the overboard dump line for the bleed air of the fuel heater.
B. It is necessary to operate the APU to do a test of the flow control valve.

C. Procedure
S 865-005
(1) Set the switch and the circuit breaker:
(a)
Set the APU master switch, on the P5 forward overhead panel, to the OFF position and attach a DO-NOT-OPERATE tag.
(b)
Open this circuit breaker and attach a DO-NOT-CLOSE tag: 1) E3-3 Electrical Shelf, APU Control Unit

(2) Open the APU cowl door:
(a)
Open the latches for the APU cowl door.
(b)
Open the APU cowl door.
(c)
Connect the door support rods.

CAUTION:_______BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU MOVE THE LOWER SHROUD. DAMAGE TO THE SHROUD DRAIN LINES CAN OCCUR.
(3) Remove the lower shroud:
(a)
Hold the lower shroud and open the shroud latches.
(b)
Remove the lower shroud.

(4) APUs WITH ALLIEDSIGNAL SB GTCP85-49-7096; Start and operate the APU (AMM 49-11-00/201).
(a)
If the flow control valve was replaced, examine the fuel lines at the flow control valve for leakage.
(b)
If you found leakage, repair the cause of it.

(5) APUs WITHOUT ALLIEDSIGNAL SB GTCP85-49-7096; If the flow control valve was replaced, examine the flow control valve for leakage:
(a)
Start and operate the APU (AMM 49-11-00/201).
(b)
Do the APU usual shutdown (AMM 49-11-00/201).
(c)
Visually examine the fuel lines at the flow control valve for any signs of leakage: 1) If you found signs of leakage, repair the cause of it.

(6) APUs WITH ALLIEDSIGNAL SB GTCP85-49-7096; Examine the fuel temperature indicator and the airflow at the overboard dump line:
(a)
Write the value shown on the fuel temperature indicator on the P5 forward overhead panel.
(b)
Examine the airflow at the overboard dump line for the bleed air of the fuel heater.
(c)
Compare the data from the previous two steps with the data in the table below.
