Put the door support rods in the clips on the APU cowl door.

Close the APU cowl door.

Remove the DO-NOT-CLOSE tag and close this circuit breaker: 1) E3-3 Electrical Shelf, APU Control Unit

(1)
Remove the probe from the engine (AMM 49-71-21/401).

Do a test on the thermocouple probe for the exhaust gas temperature.
WARNING: DO NOT USE HEAT GUNS, SOLDERING GUNS, AND SOLDERING IRONS
_______ IN FUEL GASES (AMM 20-10-27/201). THIS CAN CAUSE AN EXPLOSION AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT AND INJURY TO PERSONS.
(a) Put the hot soldering iron on the thermocouple probe.
NOTE: Make sure you put the soldering iron on the center of
____ the thermocouple probe. This will supply the most heat to the probe.
(b)
Make sure the temperature increases on the indicator for the exhaust gas temperature.
(c)
If the temperature does not increase, do the steps that follow: 1) If the pointer on the indicator does not move, replace the thermocouple probe.
2) If the indicator decreases in temperature, the probe operates correctly but you connected the leads incorrectly.
(d)
Disconnect leads to the thermocouple probe.

(3) Install the thermocouple probe on the engine (AMM 49-71-21/401).
