APU FUEL SYSTEM - ADJUSTMENT/TEST

1. General
_______
A. This procedure has two checks for the fuel supply system for the APU. These are the two checks.
(1)
The Flow Check of the APU Fuel Supply System
(2)
The pressure check of the APU Fuel Supply System.
B. The flow check of the APU fuel supply system makes sure the correct quantity of fuel is supplied to the APU. The pressure check of the APU fuel supply system makes sure the correct fuel pressure is supplied to the APU.

2. APU Fuel Supply System Flow Check

A. Standard Tools and Equipment
(1)
Container - 5 gallon (20 liter) capacity, for fuel
(2)
Hose - for fuel, sufficient length to transmit fuel from the fuel line to the container
(3)
Fitting - to connect the fuel hose to the fuel line for the low-pressure fuel filter

D. Procedure
S 865-035
(1) Set the switch and these circuit breakers:
(a)
Set the APU master switch, on the P5 forward overhead panel, to the OFF position and attach a DO-NOT-OPERATE tag.
(b)
Make sure the No. 1 AFT FUEL PUMP switch is in the OFF position.
NOTE: The No. 1 AFT FUEL PUMP switch is on the P5 forward

overhead panel.
(c) Open this circuit breaker and attach a DO-NOT-CLOSE tag: 1) E3-3 Electrical Shelf, APU Control Unit

(2) Open the APU cowl door:
(a)
Open the latches for the APU cowl door.
(b)
Open the APU cowl door.
(c)
Connect the door support rods.

CAUTION:_______BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU MOVE THE LOWER SHROUD. DAMAGE TO THE SHROUD DRAIN LINES CAN OCCUR.
(3) Remove the lower shroud:
(a)
Hold the lower shroud and open the shroud latches.
(b)
Remove the lower shroud.

(4) Install the fuel hose:
(a)
Disconnect the fuel line from the low-pressure fuel filter.
(b)
Use the fitting to connect the fuel hose to the fuel line for the low-pressure fuel filter.
(c)
Put the other end of the fuel hose in the container.

(5) Supply external electrical power to the airplane (AMM 24-22-00/201).
NOTE: The ac power is necessary to operate the aft boost pump

in the No. 1 fuel tank.

(6) Set the No. 1 AFT FUEL PUMP switch to the ON position.
NOTE: The No. 1 AFT FUEL PUMP switch is on the P5 forward
____
overhead panel.
NOTE: If you must use the fuel boost pumps in the center tank,
____ you must have a maintenance person or observer in the flight compartment to continuously monitor the LOW PRESSSURE lights. Turn the applicable fuel boost pump to the OFF position if the LOW PRESSURE light for the center tank stays on.
