2) If the control temperature is too high, turn the adjustment collar counterclockwise to decrease the temperature.
NOTE: There are two self-locking insert sleeves in the
____ adjustable collar to prevent a collar movement during the operation. To make sure this device operates correctly, monitor the quantity of torque that is necessary to turn the adjustment collar. If the torque is less than 20 pound-inches (2.3 newton-meters), you must replace the thermostat.
(w) Do the above test steps again until the control temperature is correctly adjusted.
NOTE: If you start the APU again, make sure you follow the
____ starter duty cycle.

(6) Remove the test thermocouple:
(a)
Disconnect the test thermocouple from the calibration kit.
(b)
Remove the test thermocouple from the APU.
(c)
Install the EGT thermocouple in the APU (AMM 49-71-21/401).

CAUTION: KEEP A MINIMUM CLEARANCE OF 0.18 INCHES (5 MM) BETWEEN THE
_______ ENGINE, THE FIRE DETECTOR, THE CLAMPS, AND THE LOWER SHROUD.
BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU MOVE THE SHROUD. DAMAGE TO THE SHROUD
DRAIN LINES CAN OCCUR.
(7) Install the lower shroud: (a) Hold the lower shroud against the upper shroud. (b) Close the shroud latches.

(8) Close the APU cowl door: (a) Disconnect the door support rods. (b) Put the door support rods in the clips on the APU cowl door. (c) Close the APU cowl door. (d) Close the latches on the APU cowl door.

(9) Set the circuit breaker and the switch: (a) Remove the DO-NOT-CLOSE tag and close this circuit breaker: 1) E3-3 Electrical Shelf, APU Control Unit (b) Remove the DO-NOT-OPERATE tag from the APU master switch on the P5 forward overhead panel.

SURGE BLEED VALVE - REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

1. General_______
A. This procedure contains the removal and the installation tasks for the surge bleed valve on the APU.
B. The surge bleed valve is on the aft right side of the APU. You can get access to the valve through the APU cowl door.

C. Procedure
S 864-002
(1) Set the switch and the circuit breaker:
(a)
Set the APU master switch, on the P5 forward overhead panel, to to the OFF position and attach a DO-NOT-OPERATE tag.
(b)
Open this circuit breaker and attach a DO-NOT-CLOSE tag: 1) E3-3 Electrical Shelf, APU Control Unit

(2) Open the APU cowl door:
(a)
Open the latches for the APU cowl door.
(b)
Open the APU cowl door.
(c)
Connect the door support rods.
