Remove the snap ring from the oil pump.
(e)
Use the puller to remove the drive shaft seal and packing from the oil pump. 1) Discard the packing.

D. Procedure
S 424-001
(1) Install the drive shaft seal to the oil pump:
(a)
Apply a layer of petrolatum to the drive shaft seal and packing.
(b)
Install the packing on the oil pump.
(c)
Put the drive shaft seal in the oil pump.
1) Make sure the lip of the drive shaft seal points away from the APU.
(d)
Install the snap ring on the oil pump to hold the drive shaft seal in its position.
(e)
Install the gasket to the oil pump.
(f)
Install the tachometer generator to the oil pump with the nuts and washers.
(g)
Connect the electrical connector to the tachometer generator.

(2) Set the circuit breaker and the switch:
(a)
Remove the DO-NOT-CLOSE tag and close this circuit breaker: 1) E3-3 Electrical Shelf, APU Control Unit
(b)
Remove the DO-NOT-OPERATE tag from the APU master switch on the P5 forward overhead panel.

(3) APUs WITH ALLIEDSIGNAL SB GTCP85-49-7096; Examine the oil pump for leakage:
(a)
Start and operate the APU (AMM 49-11-00/201).
(b)
During the APU operation, examine the oil pump for leakage.
(c)
Do the APU usual shutdown (AMM 49-11-00/201).
(d)
Attach a DO-NOT-OPERATE tag to the APU master switch on the P5 forward overhead panel.
(e)
If you found leakage, repair the cause of it.

(4) APUs WITHOUT ALLIEDSIGNAL SB GTCP85-49-7096; Examine the oil pump for leakage:
(a)
Start and operate the APU (AMM 49-11-00/201).
(b)
Do the APU usual shutdown (AMM 49-11-00/201).
(c)
Attach a DO-NOT-OPERATE tag to the APU master switch on the P5 forward overhead panel.
(d)
Visually examine the oil pump for any signs of leakage: 1) If you found signs of leakage, repair the cause of it.

_______ ENGINE, FIRE DETECTOR, CLAMPS AND LOWER SHROUD.
BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU MOVE THE LOWER SHROUD. SHROUD DRAIN LINES CAN OCCUR. DAMAGE TO THE
