LOW PRESSURE FUEL FILTER ELEMENT - REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

1. General_______
A. This procedure gives the tasks to remove and to install the low pressure fuel filter element (which is referred to as the 'fuel filter element'). The fuel filter element gives protection to the fuel control unit from fuel contamination.

C. Procedure
S 864-002
(1) Set the switch and the circuit breaker:
(a)
Set the APU master switch, on the P5 forward overhead panel, to the OFF position and attach a DO-NOT-OPERATE tag.
(b)
Open this circuit breaker an attach a DO-NOT-CLOSE tag: 1) E3-3 Electrical Shelf, APU Control Unit

(2) Open the APU cowl door:
(a)
Open the latches for the APU cowl door.
(b)
Open the APU cowl door.
(c)
Connect the door support rods.

CAUTION:_______BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU MOVE THE LOWER SHROUD. DAMAGE TO THE SHROUD DRAIN LINES CAN OCCUR.
(3) Remove the lower shroud:
(a)
Hold the lower shroud and open the shroud latches.
(b)
Remove the lower shroud.

(4) Remove the fuel filter element:
(a)
Put a container below the fuel filter.
(b)
Remove the filter bowl from the filter head. Let the fuel in the filter head and the filter bowl drain into the container.
(c)
Remove and discard the fuel filter element and the packing.
(d)
Remove the backup ring and the packing from the filter head.
(e)
Discard the packing from the filter head.
(f)
Remove the container that is below the fuel filter.
