D. Prepare for Removal

Remove the entry door lining (Ref 52-11-02/401).

Remove the access panel (1) on the hinge torque tube and the cam access cover (3) from the door structure.

(1) Remove the stub shaft (30) and the shims (29), if installed.
NOTE: Keep the shims for the installation.

Remove the control cam (28, Detail A) from the inner shaft (24).

Remove the upper and lower control rods (41, 86, Detail E) from the inner latch crank (87).
NOTE: Turn the handle shaft, if it is necessary, to align the crank

ends with the access holes in the housing.

(4)
Disconnect the pushrod (20) from the hinge torque tube.

(5)
Disconnect the disarm cable from the dangler brace (59)
(Detail B, Door 1; Detail C, Door 5).

Do these steps to remove the external handles (9) and the center shaft (45) from the handle mechanism housing (21) (Detail A, Fig. 401 ):
NOTE: You can remove the basket cam (49) from the housing as a part
____ of the external handles and the center shaft assembly (45), if it is necessary.
(a) Remove the control cam (28) from the splines on the inner shaft (24).
