MAIN ENTRY DOOR - INSPECTION/CHECK

1. General_______
A. This procedure contains these tasks:
(1)
Examine the entry door for damage after it is hit with an object
(2)
Examine the condition of the hinge and torque tube mechanism for the entry door
(3)
Examine the condition of the mechanism that latches the door
(4)
Examine the internal handle of the main entry door.
B.
The First task makes sure the door operates after it is hit with an external object.
C.
The second task makes sure the hinge and torque tube mechanisms are in a good condition.
D.
The third task looks at the mechanism that latches the door and makes sure it is in a good condition.
E.
The task to examine the internal handle of the main entry door is included in the task to examine the main entry door for damage after it is hit. Thus, if you do the task to examine the main entry door for damage after it is hit, then it is not necessary to do the task to examine the internal handle.

Procedure

(1)
Open the door as follows:
(a)
Make sure the door is closed and latched.
(b)
Turn the door handle to the open position.
(c)
Use the assist handle to push the door through its opening.
(d)
Make sure the effect of the snubber on the operation of the door is correct.
(e)
Make sure the hold-open device holds the door in the open position.
(2)
Remove all persons and equipment from the door operation area.
