Install the Actuator
S 424-014
(1)
Do these steps to install the actuator (14).
(a)
Apply a thin layer of grease to the threaded part of the actuator shaft to avoid damage to the seal.
NOTE: If a new seal assembly (8) is installed, apply a fillet
____ seal of BMS 5-95 around the edge of the seal mounting bracket.
(b)
Move the actuator piston rod (7, detail C) through the seal assembly (8).
(c)
Install the actuator lug in the support bracket.
(d)
Install the rubber spacer (10).
(e)
Attach the actuator to the support bracket with bolt (11), washers (12) and the nut (13).
(f)
Install the checknut (6) on the actuator piston rod (7).
(g)
Close and latch the door.
(h)
Extend the actuator piston rod (7) to touch the rod end (5) connected to the chain (19).
CAUTION: DO NOT LET THE CHAIN (19) TWIST WHEN YOU INSTALL THE
_______ ACTUATOR PISTON ROD (7) ON THE ROD END (5). THIS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE CHAIN.
(i) Install and turn the actuator piston rod (7) on the rod end (5). 1) Make sure the clearance between the lugs on the
sprocket (21) and body torque tube is satisfactory (Section A-A).
NOTE: You must fully extend the actuator piston rod and
____ the chain when you measure the clearance.
(j) Tighten the checknut (6) to 200-230 pound-inches.
