Manually lift the lower gate and close and latch the door.
 NOTE: You can use a flexible cord to keep the lower gate in
____ the up position.
 1) Make sure the upper gate pushrod is free from its fitting
 on the upper gate when you close the door.Make sure the latch fittings and the serrated plates (4 locations) are installed.Close and latch the door.Make sure the "X" dimension (Detail C) on the forward and aft ends of the latch torque tubes do not differ by more than
 0.06 inch.
Adjust the "X" dimension to adjust the the forward and aft
 locations of the latch torque tubes, if it is necessary.
 1) Open the door.
 2) Remove the "C" washers from one end of the latch torque

 tube and install at the other end to adjust the "X" dimension. 3) Make sure to install the open end of "C" washers in different positions. 4) Make sure the end play on the latch torque tube is less than 0.024 inch.
 CAUTION: MAKE SURE THE SEALANT BEADS DO NOT TOUCH THE BEARING.
_______ THIS WILL NOT LET THE BEARING MOVE FREELY.
 5) Apply four beads of sealant as shown in Section B-B to keep
 "C" washers in their positions.Close and latch the door.Make sure the end clearance between the latch roller and the latch fitting is 0.10 to 0.15 inch (Detail C).Adjust the clearance between the latch roller and the latch fitting, if it is necessary. 1) Remove the washers from one side of the latch crank and
 install at the other side to adjust the clearance.Adjust the flushness of the door skin and the body skin as shown in Fig. 502 and adjust the latch roller clearance as shown in Section A-A. 1) Make sure when you measure the flushness and the initial
 latch roller clearance, these conditions exist: a) The door is in the fully closed and latched position. b) The upper and lower gate pushrods are disconnected. c) All four latch rollers are in contact with the inboard
 surface of their fittings.

 2)  Loosen the attachment bolts on the latch fittings and move the fittings to get correct flushness and the initial latch roller clearance of 0.10 to 0.19 inch.
 NOTE: The 0.10 to 0.19 inch dimension is an initial
____ clearance. You will adjust the final clearance after the upper gate is adjusted.

Adjust the guide arm (Detail I):

 (a)  
Do a check of the guide arm bearings. Make sure that the guide arm roller bearings are not worn or damaged. Replace any guide arm bearing that is worn or damaged.


 CAUTION: MANUALLY LIFT THE LOWER GATE WHEN YOU CLOSE THE DOOR WITH
_______ THE LOWER PUSHROD DISCONNECTED. DO NOT TRY TO CLOSE THE DOOR WITH THE LOWER GATE DOWN. THIS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE SPLINE TORQUE SHAFT ON THE GIRT BAR MECHANISM.
 (b) Manually lift the lower gate and close and latch the door.
 NOTE: You can use a flexible cord to keep the lower gate in
____
 the up position.

 1)  Make sure the upper gate pushrod is free from its fitting on the upper gate when you close the door.
 (c)  Get access through the upper hinge cavity opening. Remove the shrink sleeve (if installed).
 NOTE: It is not necessary to install a new shrink sleeve.
