Prepare to Install the Rain Seal

_______ SKIN. DO NOT BREATHE THE FUMES FROM SOLVENTS. SOLVENTS ARE HAZARDOUS MATERIALS. SOLVENTS MAY BE FLAMMABLE OR HARMFUL TO THE ENVIRONMENT. REFER TO PRODUCT MATERIAL SAFETY DATA SHEETS (MSDS) AND LOCAL REQUIREMENTS FOR PROPER HANDLING PROCEDURES.

Remove the unwanted sealant from the door surface and the fuselage structure. Use IPA, or Ethyl Alcohol if it is necessary.

Clean the mating surfaces with a clean cheesecloth and IPA, or Ethyl Alcohol .

Clean with the IPA, or Ethyl Alcohol and a clean cloth until there are no soils.

Let the surfaces dry.

Install the Rain Seal
(1)
Put the rain seal in the correct position (View A-A, Fig. 401).

(2) S 344-014Apply the parting agent to the seal's mating surfaces on the fuselage structure and the door. (Views A and B, Fig. 401).
(3) S 864-019Let the surfaces dry.
(4) S 344-015Use a spatula or flow gun to apply the sealant to the mating surface of the rain seal to get a layer approximately 1/32 inch thick.
(5) S 434-016Install the rain seal to the door and the fuselage structure with the screws (Views A and B, Fig. 401).

DIAPHRAGM-MECHANICAL SEALS - REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

1. General_______
A. This procedure contains two tasks. The first task is the removal of the diaphragm-mechanical seal. The second task is the installation of the diaphragm-mechanical seal.
B. Diaphragm seals can be disconnected from the door without the removal of the full diaphragm-mechanical seal. For the diaphragm seal removal/installation, refer to 52-09-01/401, Diaphragm Seals.
