Move the door to the aft position.

Release the manual latch handle.

CAUTION: DO NOT USE THE INTERIOR HANDLE TO MOVE THE DOOR FORWARD.
_______ THIS CAN CAUSE THE EXTERIOR HANDLES TO EXTEND WHICH WILL CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE AIRPLANE.

Move the door forward to feel that it moves freely on the tracks.
S 716-004
(4)
Do a check of the interior handle operation as follows:
(a)
With the door against the forward snubber, rotate the interior handle one-half turn counterclockwise.
(b)
Feel that the handle rotates freely.
(c)
See that the door lifts into the doorway.
(d)
See that the latch cams engage the latch fittings and lock the door in the closed position.

Do a visual inspection of the latch cams and latch rollers.
(a)
Make sure there is no debris in the cams.
(b)
Make sure the rollers move smoothly and are clean.

(2)
Do a visual inspection of the upper hinge.
(a)
Make sure there is no damage to the hinge mechanism.
(b)
Make sure there are no missing fasteners.
S 216-009
(3)
Do a visual inspection of the lower hinge.
(a)
Make sure the lower hinge mechanism is clean.
(b)
Make sure there is no damage to the lower hinge mechanism.
(c)
Make sure there are no missing fasteners.

Remove the lining from the door.
S 216-012

Do a visual inspection of the door mechanisms.
(a)
Look at the handle mechanism. 1) Make sure there are no loose fasteners. 2) Make sure the mechanism is clean. 3) Make sure there is no damage to the mechanism.
(b)
Look at the push rods. 1) Make sure there are no loose or missing fasteners. 2) Make sure there is no corrosion or damage.
(c)
Look at the torque tubes. 1) Make sure there are no loose or missing fasteners. 2) Make sure there is no corrosion or damage.
