Open the door.
(a)
Look at the lower surface of the lower gate, and the top surface of the upper gate for corrosion (Section A-A, Fig. 602).
(b)
Make sure the wear pads for the stop pins on the lower gate are not worn more than 0.035 inch.

(2) S 016-017Remove the lining from the door (Ref 52-11-02/401).
(3) S 016-018Remove the door maintenance access panel, forward of the door.
(4) S 216-019Examine the door for corrosion (Fig. 601). (a) Look at the components that follow for cracks, corrosion, loose bolts, and the general condition: 1) The operational mechanism for the door 2) The door torque tube 3) The body torque tube 4) All bearings 5) All attachments.
(5) S 416-024Install the door maintenance access panel forward of the door.
(6) S 416-025Install the lining on the door (Ref 52-11-02/401).

MAIN ENTRY DOOR LINING AND INSULATION - REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

1. General
________
A. This procedure has two tasks:
(1)
The first task is the removal of the main entry door lining.
(2)
The second task is the installation of the main entry door lining.
B.
The main entry door lining has three sections: the upper section, the center section and lower section.

Procedure

(1)
For the upper or the lower lining, do this step:
(a)
Remove the screws, washers and nuts and remove lining.

(2)
For the center lining, do these steps:
(a)
Remove the interior handle (section C-C). 1) Loosen the two retainer plugs from the internal handle to get access to handle pin. 2) Remove the handle pin from the handle with an applicable
drift. 3) Remove the handle from stub shaft.
(b)
Remove the assist handle (section D-D). 1) Turn the handle nuts clockwise with the spanner wrench to remove the handle.
2) Remove the attachment screws, washers, spacers and shims and remove the handle nuts.
(c)
Remove the screws, washers and nuts which attach the lining to the support and remove the lining.
