Do this step to make the vertical position mark of the door in the opening:
(a)
Put the reference lines at the forward and aft edges of the door and body skins.
NOTE: You will adjust the door vertically to align these
____ reference lines after you replace the torque tube. If the door does not return to the same vertical position before you replace the torque tube, you can adjust these components:
-
The latch roller
-
The stop pin on the lower gate
-
The emergency power trigger
-
The shear pin clearance
-
The girt bar mechanism.
(b) Make the vertical position mark of the door in the opening.

(3) Remove the handle mechanism pushrod at the cocking crank.
NOTE: Do not change the rod adjustment.

Remove the torque tube.
(a)
Remove the coupling bolts from the lower shaft and the lower coupling.
(b)
Loosen the lower adjusting nut on the coupling.
(c)
Remove the fasteners that hold the upper and lower couplings.
(d)
Move the lower coupling down on the shaft and remove the lower shaft.
(e)
Remove the coupling bolt from the upper shaft.
(f)
Loosen the upper adjusting nut on the coupling.

Remove the upper coupling and upper shaft.

Remove the fasteners that attach the bearing plate to the door structure.

(1)
Install the door torque tube.
(a)
Put the bearing plate on the door structure.
(b)
Align the pushrod with the cocking crank and install the upper shaft on the hinge arm splines.
(c)
Attach the pushrod to the cocking crank.
(d)
Temporarily install the adjusting nut, lockwasher and spacer on the upper shaft (Detail B).
