2) Mix the catalyst and the adhesive.

(5) Prepare the surfaces of the repair. Do these steps:
WARNING: DO NOT GET SOLVENTS IN YOUR MOUTH, OR YOUR EYES, OR ON
_______ YOUR SKIN. DO NOT BREATHE THE FUMES FROM SOLVENTS. SOLVENTS ARE HAZARDOUS MATERIALS. SOLVENTS MAY BE FLAMMABLE OR HARMFUL TO THE ENVIRONMENT. REFER TO PRODUCT MATERIAL SAFETY DATA SHEETS (MSDS) AND LOCAL REQUIREMENTS FOR PROPER HANDLING PROCEDURES.
(a)
Use clean cheesecloth and MEK , isopropyl alcohol, or ethyl alcohol to clean an area approximately two inches around the surfaces that you will bond.
(b)
Dry the surfaces with clean cheeesecloth before the solvent dries.
(c)
Do the two steps above as necessary to fully remove dirt, oil, paint and other soils.
NOTE: Clean surfaces are necessary for a good bond.

(d)
Lightly rub the repair area with 180 grit (or finer) abrasive paper to make the surface rough.
(e)
Remove the dust particles with dry cheesecloth.
(f)
For a repair with Dow Corning Silastic 140 RTV or Silastic 731 RTV or General Electric SR-529 adhesive, apply a light layer of Dow Corning 1200 RTV or S-2260 primer on all of the surfaces except silicone rubber and let air dry for 30 minutes before you apply the adhesive.
NOTE: Primer is not necessary on silicone rubber.

(g) Do these steps to do a repair with Dow Corning 93-076:
1) On any surfaces that are not silicone rubber, apply a light layer of Dow Corning 1204 primer and let it dry for 1-24 hours before you apply the adhesive.
2) On silicone rubber surfaces, apply a light layer of primer (A 1:1 mixture of Thermolite 12 and MEK is satisfactory) and let it dry from 10 minutes to no more than 24 hours before you apply the adhesive.
(h) To do a repair with RTV 700:
1) On any surface that is not silicone rubber, apply a light layer of SS4155 primer and let it dry for at least 60 minutes before you apply the adhesive.
2) When you use RTV 700, it is not necessary to use primer on silicone rubber surfaces.
(i) For a repair with General Electric RTV 174 adhesive, do not apply primer.

F. Repair the Seal
S 348-038
(1)
Repair the joints in the seal.
(a)
When the damaged area is small (1/2 square inch maximum), repair the seal as follows: 1) Use Procedure A with Type I adhesive to bond the
delaminated seal.
(b)
When the damaged area is only in the edge of the splice and the seal does not leak, repair the seal as follows: 1) Cut off the damaged flap with a sharp knife. 2) Apply a thin layer of Type II or Type III adhesive.

Repair damaged areas which can leak (if you make the damaged area larger).
(a)
When the damaged area is on the edge of the seal, repair the seal as follows: 1) Use Procedure A or Procedure B with Type II adhesive to
bond the damaged seal.

Repair holes or damage in the rubber in the area of the joint.
(a)
Use Procedure B with Type II or Type II adhesive to bond the damaged seal.

(4)
Repair holes or damage in the blade section of the seal.
(a)
Repair small holes or damage (0.2 inch maximum length).
