E. Procedure

(1)
Install the sprocket (16).
(a)
Do these steps to lubricate the assembly: 1) Clean the torque tube sleeve (15) and the sprocket (16). 2) Apply grease to the inner surfaces of the sprocket (16) and
the torque tube sleeve (15). 3) Apply grease to all the open surfaces of the bearings in the sprocket (16).
(b)
Assemble the sprocket (16) on the torque tube sleeve (15).
(c)
Install the washer (18), and the locknut (19).
CAUTION: DO NOT MAKE THE LOCKNUT (19) TOO TIGHT. IF YOU MAKE THE LOCKNUT (19) TOO TIGHT, THE SPROCKET CANNOT MOVE FREELY AND THE DOOR WILL NOT OPERATE CORRECTLY IN AN EMERGENCY.
(d)
Tighten the locknut (19) with your hand and lock it with the washer tabs (18).

(2) Attach the chain (17) to the sprocket (16).
NOTE: The rod end (44) is attached to the chain.

(a)
Install the pin from the top to connect the chain (17) to the sprocket (16).
(b)
Make sure the head of the attachment pin (45) on the rod end is up and the cotter pin is down.
(c)
Install the cotter pin (41) and the washer (42).
(d)
Close and latch the door.
CAUTION: DO NOT LET THE CHAIN (9) TWIST WHEN YOU INSTALL THE
_______ ACTUATOR ROD (27) TO THE ROD END (28). THIS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE CHAIN.

(e) Connect the door actuator rod (27) to the rod end (28).
NOTE: The rod end (28) is attached to the chain (9).

Assemble the torque tube.
(a)
Install the snubber fitting (20) on the torque tube sleeve (15).
(b)
Put the shims (40) between the structure and the snubber fitting (20).
NOTE: Use the shims kept from the removal task or shims

with equivalent thickness.
(c)
Attach the snubber fitting (20) to the structure.
(d)
Lubricate the splines with grease before the installation.
(e)
If you removed the snubber (21) and the telescopic sleeve (23), do these steps: 1) Move the telescopic sleeve (23) above the snubber shaft.
2) Install the snubber (21) and telescopic sleeve (23) to engage the splines on the torque tube sleeve (15) and the lower link (27).
3) Install and tighten the bolts (33, 35) on the telescopic sleeve (23).
(f)
If you did not remove the snubber (21) and the telescopic sleeve (23), do these steps: 1) Move the snubber (21) to engage the splines on the torque
tube sleeve (15). 2) Install the bolt (35) on the telescopic sleeve (23).
(g)
Make sure the chain (17) does not touch the chain guard on the access panel (section A-A).
(h)
Remove material from the chain guard to prevent any
interference.
(i)
Connect the snubber arm (21) to the structure link (38).

Apply corrosion preventive compound to the chain (17), the sprocket (16), and to the area above and below.
