1. General
_______
A. This procedure is applicable to freighter airplanes only and has these tasks:
(1)
The removal of the internal/external door handles.
(2)
The installation of the internal/external door handles.

2. Removal of the Internal/External Door Handles

Maintenance Stand (necessary to reach the crew service door).

Procedure

(1)
Remove the butterfly external door handle assembly (configuration 1): (Fig. 401)
(a)
Remove the screws (1) and cover panels (2) from the crew service door.
(b)
Turn the internal door handle (9) to the open position.
(c)
Make sure that the external door handle (13) is returned to the stowed position .
(d)
Move the crew service door aft.
(e)
Install the safety barrier 6PRE65b00040 in the doorway.
(f)
Remove two cotter pins (3 and 6), washers (4 and 7), and pins (5 and 8 ) from the internal door handle (9).
(g)
Remove the internal door handle (9) from the cam assembly (10).
(h)
Remove the nut (11) from the end of the shaft assembly (12).
(i)
Move the crew service door forward until it is almost closed.
(j)
Remove the external door handle assembly (13) from the mechanism housing (14) bearings.
NOTE: If necessary, use a steel punch to remove the shaft
____ assembly (12) from the cam assembly (10).

Remove the T-shaped external door handle assembly (configuration 2): (Fig. 401)
(a)
Remove the screws (1) and cover panels (2) from the crew service door.
