UPPER DECK CREW SERVICE DOOR - ADJUSTMENT/TEST

A. This procedure contains a functional test of the upper deck crew service door.

Procedure
S 865-002
(1)
Move the escape slide to the aft position.
S 725-003
(2)
Do this test of the handle torque:
(a)
Use a spring scale to measure the torque that is necessary to move the door until it is not latched.
(b)
See that the torque is less than 300 pound-inches.
S 725-004
(3)
Do this test of the snubber:
(a)
See that the handle is in the OPEN position.
(b)
Carefully push the door forward to see that the forward snubber touches the carriage latch.
(c)
See that the carriage latch is on the bottom carriage.
(d)
Hold the door in the forward position.
(e)
See that the hook on the carriage latch does not engage the pin on the door.
(f)
See that the clearance between the pin and the tip of the hook is not less than 0.30 inches.
(g)
See that the top forward snubber touches the top carriage.
(h)
See that the cam roller on the forward corner of the door aligns with the programming cam in the door opening.
(i)
Move the door handle to the CLOSED position.
(j)
Look at the cam roller while you close the door to see that it stays inside the programming cam as the door moves.

Do this test of the door latch:
(a)
Turn the door handle to the OPEN position.
(b)
Put the modeling clay in the latch fittings.
(c)
Close the door completely, then open the door with the interior handle.
(d)
Measure the thickness of the clay that is in the fittings.
(e)
See that the thickness of the clay is between 0.10 and 0.16 inches.
(f)
Remove the clay and clean the latch fitting.

(5) Close and latch the door.
