Apply a powder colored chalk on the pressure seal on the door.
(c)
Close and open the door.
(d)
Examine the seal depressor to determine what part of the pressure seal does not touch the seal depressor.
(e)
Make sure the pressure seal touches the seal depressor as shown in Detail A.

(5) Apply EC 3587 Fairing Compound to the seal depressor as necessary to align the seal deflection necessary as shown in Detail A.
NOTE: You must be careful when you apply the fairing compound and
____ prepare the sealing surface. The water and air leakage resistance of the door depends on the quality and workmanship of the surface the seal touches on.
(a) If more seal deflection is necessary, RTV 157 sealant can be applied locally to the seal.
NOTE: Sealant thickness must not be more than 0.15 inch and
____ faired to a 20:1 ratio. The sealant must be made smooth so it will align with the adjacent surface.

RAIN SEALS - REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

1. General

A. This procedure contains two tasks. The first task is the removal of the rain seal. The second task is the installation of the rain seal.
B. The rain seals are installed on the forward and aft cargo doors. In the door closed position, the seals are installed inboard of the door hinge.

Put the door in a position to make the removal of the seal easy.

If you remove the cargo door, do the two steps that follow to disconnect the seal.

Remove the screws that hold the rain seal to the door (View B, Fig. 401).

Pull on the seal to remove it from the door structure. Be careful when you pull the seal to not stretch or deform the seal or cause damage to the retainer.
NOTE: The seal retainer is bonded to the seal and you will remove

it with the seal.
