 (f) (g)  Pull the external handles (2, 28) until the mechanism touches the bottom and do the step (c) to measure the distance.Calculate the value of the clutch engagement.
 NOTE:____ The clutch engagement is equal to the value in step (c) minus the value in step (f), and minus 0.24 inch.
 (h)  1) Make sure the value of the clutch engagement is equal or more than 0.100 inch.If the value of the clutch engagement is less than 0.100 inch, adjust the handle mechanism.

 3. Handle Mechanism Assembly Adjustment

 A. General
 (1)  
The adjustment for the clutch engagement is necessary if the test results of the handle mechanism is not satisfactory.

 (2)  
You can do this adjustment with the door installed or removed from the airplane.

 F. Prepare for Adjustment
 S 015-005
 (1)  
Remove the entry door lining (Ref 52-11-02/401).

 G.
Adjust the Handle Mechanism Clutch Engagement


 S 725-006
 (1)  
Do a test for the handle mechanism.

 S 225-036

 (2)  
Calculate the value of the clutch engagement.


 NOTE: You will use the calculated value of the clutch
____ engagement to find the shim thicknesses on the handle mechanism.

Do these steps to make sure the shim thickness (16) is correct:

 (a)  
Remove the stub shaft (31) and shims (32) (if installed).

 (b)  
Remove the control cam (18) from the inner shaft (12).

 WARNING:_______DO NOT LET THE SPRING (11) MOVE FREELY. IT CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO PARTS.

 (c)  
Keep the support fitting (17) from spring pressure (11) and remove the support fitting, clutch collar (15), and laminated shim (16).

 (d)  
Install the support fitting (17) with the clutch collar (15) installed in the bearing on the inner shaft (12).
