Prepare for adjustment.


 S 485-036
 (1)  
Put a maintenance stand adjacent to the door.

 S 015-003

 (2)  
Remove the entry door lining (AMM 52-11-02/401).

 (3)  
Remove the door lining support angles (if required).

 (4)  
Remove the perimeter seal and its retainer from the door.

 (5)  
Remove the lower hinge cover on the inner side of the door.

 (6)  
Remove the maintenance access panel from the outer side of the airplane on the forward side of the door.

 (7)  
Remove the hinge covers that are forward and aft of the body torque tube (AMM 52-11-14/401).

 (8)  
Remove the stop pin locking clips and losen all the door stop pins (This includes the lower gate stop pins).

 (9)
Remove the centering guide from the door (Detail E, Fig. 501).

 F.  Procedure
 S 825-011
 (1)
Adjust the vertical position of the door (Fig. 501 and Fig. 502):

 (a)  
Close and latch the door.

 (b)  
Loosen and then tighten the two coupling bolts (2, Detail B) to remove the vertical play in the torque tube joints.

 (c)  
Do this step if it is necessary to lift the door:

 1)  Loosen the upper adjusting nut (1) and tighten the lower adjusting nut.

 (d)  
Do this step if it is necessary to lower the door:

 1)  Loosen the lower adjusting nut (1) and tighten the upper adjusting nut.

 (e)  
Make sure the skin clearance is as shown in Fig. 502.

 (f)  
Make sure the centerline of each door stop pin (18 locations) on the vertical sides of the door is in a 0.30 inch diameter circle on the stop pad (Section C-C).

 (g)  
Tighten the upper or lower adjusting nut until there is no vertical play in the torque tube.

 (h)  
Lock the tab washers on the upper and lower adjusting nuts (Detail B, Fig. 501).

 (2)  
Adjust the latch and the latch fitting (Detail C, Fig. 501):

 (a)  
Retract the door warning switch plunger 1) Remove the switch cover 2) Manually push the switch plunger and temporary keep it in

 its retracted position.

 (b)  
Move the handlle toward the closed position until you can disconnect the upper and lower gate pushrods.

 (c)  
Disconnect the upper and lower gate pushrods.


 CAUTION: MANUALLY LIFT THE LOWER GATE WHEN YOU CLOSE THE DOOR WITH
_______ THE LOWER PUSHROD DISCONNECTED. DO NOT TRY TO CLOSE THE DOOR WITH THE LOWER GATE DOWN. THIS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE SPLINE TORQUE SHAFT ON THE GIRT BAR MECHANISM.
 (d) Manually lift the lower gate and close and latch the door.
 NOTE: You can use a flexible cord to keep the lower gate in
____
 the up position.

 1)  Make sure the upper gate pushrod is free from the its fitting on the upper gate when you close the door.
