DECOMPRESSION PANELS - INSPECTION/CHECK

1. General_______
A. This procedure contains a task to do an inspection/check of the decompression panels in the upper deck compartment.
B. The floor decompression panels have covers above the panels to prevent damage to the panels. You have to remove the covers to do the inspection.
C. The sidewall decompression panels have grilles above the panels to prevent damage to the panels. You have to remove the grilles to do the inspection.

(1)
Remove the passenger seat if it is necessary (AMM 25-25-01/401).
(2)
Remove the covers to get access to the panels.
(3)
Make sure the spring latches are not loose or broken.
(4)
Make sure the hinges are not loose or broken.

CEILING LINING AND INSULATION - DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION

General
_______
A. This section covers decorative ceiling lining panels and insulation blankets installed in the upper deck passenger compartment.
B. The ceiling lining in the upper deck passenger compartment consists of
contoured panels installed above the sidewall window panels.Insulation Blankets
___________________
A. Insulation blankets, fiberglass battings coated with fire resistant filament reinforced plastic sheeting, are installed throughout the passenger cabins. The blankets vary in size, shape and thickness dependent upon the insulation requirement of their specific locations. The insulation blankets are attached to the airplane structure with plastic snap-type fasteners.
B. The insulation blankets, besides performing their thermal insulating and noise attenuation functions, serve to prevent inner skin surface condensation moisture from leaking into the compartment, by draining the moisture down into the lower section of the fuselage where airplane drainage is provided. To perform these functions properly, it is important that all blankets be overlapped and fitted tightly and sealed around any protruding structure or equipment attachments.
C. The insulation blankets and cap strips vary in size depending on their location and are attached to the airplane structure with plastic fasteners. Numerous combinations of the plastic fasteners are used, with each combination determined by location, shape and size of structure to which the blanket is attached. Each blanket part number is stamped on the inboard surface.

A. Ceiling lining panels on each side of upper deck compartment consist of contoured panels installed above sidewall window panels.
B. Ceiling panels consists of:
(1)
Overstair panel.
(2)
Overhead ceiling panels.
(3)
Miscellaneous panels.
C. Some ceiling panels have cutouts for installation of passenger service units and speaker panels. Ceiling panels are secured to secondary structure by spring clips on upper edge; and both vertical edges, by screws to side structure and reveal panel adjustment plate, or to secondary structure above dado panels.
