 6.  Crash Pads

 A.  Crash pads are installed on the upper sill and at No. 1, 2 and 3 window posts next to the captain, first officer and observer's stations. The crash pads are a preformed hard rubber material and have a dull finish, solid color for glare prevention. The pads are attached to window posts with metal screws.

 FLIGHT COMPARTMENT CRASH PADS - REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

 1.  General_______
 A.  There are two tasks given in this procedure. The first task is the removal of the crash pads installed in the flight compartment. The second task is the installation of the crash pads.
 B.  The crash pads are installed on the upper sills, the No. 1, 2, and 3 window posts, and on the observers' reveal linings. The crash pads are held in place with screws.

 2.  Remove the Crash Pads (Fig. 401)_____________________

 (1)
Remove the pilot's sunvisor assembly (AMM 25-13-03/401).

Remove the crash pads at the upper sills.

 (a)
Remove the pilots' headsets.

 (b)
Remove the headset hook hangers.

 (c)
Remove the hole plugs and the screws from the crash pads.

 (d)
Remove the crash pads.

 

 (3)
Remove the crash pads at the No. 1, 2 and 3 window posts.

 NOTE: On the No. 2 window post, be careful not to remove the
____ pilot's eye position indicator stripe when you remove the crash pad. The indicator stripe is bonded to the crash pad. Make sure you mark the location of the stripe on the crash pad if the stripe is removed (Ref 25-13-00/001).
 (a) Remove the hole plugs and the screws from the crash pad.

Remove the hole plugs and the screws from the crash pad.

 (1)  Install the crash pads at the upper sills.

Hold the crash pads in place and install the screws and the hole plugs.

Make sure there is clearance between the crash pad holder and the crash pads.

 (c)
