Put the POWER DRIVE SYSTEM switch in the ON position for the aft compartment or in the FWD or AFT DRIVES position for the forward compartment.

Put the LATERAL GUIDE switch in the RETRACT position for the aft compartment or in the RETRACT FWD or RETRACT BOTH for the forward compartment as applicable.
(d)
Put the POWER DRIVE SYSTEM switch in the OFF position and open the applicable circuit breakers.

Remove the ball-transfer panels if it is necessary to get access to the lateral guide actuator and linkage (AMM 25-53-15/401).

Adjust the retractable guide rails.
NOTE: Use this procedure to adjust each set of retractable guide
____ rails in the forward and aft cargo compartment. Adjusting one guide rail can change the adjustment of other guide rails in the same set. Thus, if one guide rail needs adjustment, adjust the full set of guide rails.
(a) Disconnect the preset rod assembly that holds the crank assembly to the crank arm linkage of the guide rail.
NOTE: Skip these three step (for the preset rod assembly) when
____ you adjust the aft guide rails in the forward cargo compartment. These guide rails do not have a preset rod assembly.
(b) Adjust the preset rod to 6.20 (+/- 0.01) inches.
NOTE: Push-fit bushings are used in the rod and crank arm
____ assembly. If you remove these bushings, clean and lubricate them with grease before you install them again.
