LATERAL GUIDE RAIL ACTUATOR - REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

1. General_______
A. This procedure contains these tasks:
(1)
The removal of the actuator for the lateral guide rail.
(2)
The installation of the actuator for the lateral guide rail.
B. There are two actuators in the forward and the aft compartments.
C. To remove the actuator, you must do the steps that follow:
(1)
Remove the ball-transfer panels.
(2)
Remove the door assembly and the splitter rail.
(3)
Remove the linkage from the actuator.
(4)
Remove the actuator.
D. To install the actuator, these steps are necessary:
(1)
Install the actuator.
(2)
Connect the linkage to the actuator.
(3)
Install the door assembly and the splitter rail.
(4)
Install the ball-transfer panels.

WARNING:_______ MAKE SURE THAT ALL PERSONS AND EQUIPMENT ARE AWAY FROM THE DOOR
OPERATION AREA. A FAILURE OF THE LIFT MECHANISM CAN CAUSE THE
DOOR TO CLOSE QUICKLY. THIS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS OR
DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(2) Open the cargo compartment door (Ref 52-34-00/001).

WARNING: MAKE SURE YOU ARE CAREFUL WHEN YOU ARE IN THE AREA OF AN OPEN
_______ DOOR. YOU MUST INSTALL THE SAFETY BARRIER IN THE OPEN DOORWAY IF IT IS NECESSARY TO PREVENT FALLS.

Install the safety barrier in the open doorway if it is necessary.

Push the caution light on the cargo control panel to make the light flash.

(5)
Extend the lateral guide rails:
(a)
Move the power drive switch to the FWD or the AFT DRIVES position.
(b)
Move the lateral guide switch to the NORMAL position.
(c)
Move the joystick to the IN or the OUT position to extend the guide rails.
(d)
Make sure the guide rails extend.
(e)
Make sure the guide rails stay extended.

Move the power drive switch to the OFF position.

Open these circuit breakers for the applicable guide rail actuator and attach DO-NOT-CLOSE tags:
(a)
P86 Forward Lower Cargo Equipment Panel 1) BAY 2 RIGHT 2) BAY 2 LEFT 3) LATERAL GUIDE FWD 4) LATERAL GUIDE AFT
