CONTAINERIZED CARGO COMPARTMENT INSULATION - REMOVAL/INSTALLATION
_________________________________________________________________
 1.  General
_______
 A.  There are two tasks given in this procedure. The first task is the removal of the insulation blankets installed in the forward and aft cargo compartments. The second task is the installation of the insulation blankets.
 B.  Insulation blankets are installed in between and over the structural members in the floor and sidewalls in each compartment. To get access to the insulation blankets on the sidewalls it is necessary to remove the sidewall lining panels. The insulation blankets on the sidewalls and the floor are installed differently. The insulation blankets behind the sidewall vertical posts are installed on top of the structural frames. The insulation blankets below the sidewall vertical posts are installed in between and over the structural frames and stringers. Some insulation blankets called cap strips are installed over the full length of the structural frames. The cap strips are only installed on the structural frames in between the floor and the sidewall vertical posts.
 C.  The insulation blankets are held in place with clip/stud fasteners, velcro tape, and/or double-back tape. Dacron cord is used in the floor to hold the insulation blankets away from the bottom of the lower lobe.
