B. Each task applies to the captain, the first officer, the first observer, and the second observer seats, unless the instructions in the task tell you differently.
C. To complete the operation test on the flight compartment seats, you must do the tasks that follow:

Do an Operation Test of the Flight Compartment Seats
(2)
Do an Operational Test of the Crew Restraint System.

2. Do an Operation Test of the Flight Compartment Seats

A. General
(1)
The function of this task is to make sure the seat control levers for each flight compartment seat operate correctly.
(2)
This task contains these tests:
(a)
Forward and aft travel test - manual operation (first observer seat)
(b)
Forward and aft travel test - electrical operation (captain and first officer seats)
(c)
Vertical travel test - manual operation (captain, first officer and first observer seats)
(d)
Vertical travel test - electrical operation (captain and first officer seats)
(e)
Lateral travel test - manual operation (first observer seat)
(f)
Seat recline test (each seat)
(g)
Thigh support test (captain and first officer seats)
(h)
Armrest test (each seat)
(i)
Lumbar support test (each seat)
(3)
Unless said differently, each test is to be done with a person who weighs a minimum of 170 pounds.

E. Do this forward and aft travel test (manual operation) for the first observer seat.

Operate the control lever, for manual foward and aft travel, while you move the seat to the most aft position.
