Place power drive system switch to ON (aft compartment), AFT or FWD DRIVES (forward compartment).

Place bay cutoff switches on power disconnect panel to ON.

Place lateral guides switch to: 1) NORMAL for container handling. 2) RETRACT (aft compartment) RETRACT BOTH (forward
compartment) for special cargo handling. 3) RETRACT (aft compartment), RETRACT FWD (forward compartment) for pallet handling.
(2) Operate System
WARNING: IF CAUTION LAMP IS FLASHING, CARGO COMPARTMENT MUST BE
_______ CHECKED TO ENSURE THAT PERSONNEL ARE CLEAR OF CARGO BAYS AND EQUIPMENT IS OPERABLE BEFORE OPERATING SYSTEM. INJURY TO PERSONNEL OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT CAN OCCUR IF SYSTEM IS OPERATED WITH CARGO BAYS OBSTRUCTED.
(a)
Verify that caution lamp is not flashing.
(b)
Depress caution lamp; lamp flashes.
(c)
Depress caution lamp; lamp goes out.
(d)
Place joystick in position indicating direction of movement desired.
NOTE: Joystick is spring loaded to the center position.
____ If lateral guides are extended, joystick must be released to center and returned to movement position to place cargo in doorway area from compartment interior.
NOTE: All PDUs are sensor controlled so that only the
____ appropriate PDU will operate as required. The PDU will not operate unless the sensor is activated by the presence of a container above it.

(3) Operate lateral guide manual retract.
(a) Extend or retract lateral guide rail. 1) To retract guide rails, depress each lateral guide and lock down with holddown clip.
2) To extend guide rails, depress each guide, release holddown clip and allow guides to extend under spring pressure.
(4) Turn system off.
(a)
Release joystick to center position.
(b)
Place POWER DRIVE SYSTEM switch to OFF.
(c)
Remove cargo door safety barrier as necessary.
(d)
Close cargo door if required (AMM 52-34-00/001).
(e)
Remove electrical power if no longer required
(AMM 24-22-00/201).

CONTAINERIZED CARGO HANDLING SYSTEM - ADJUSTMENT/TEST

1. General_______
A. This procedure contains these tasks:
(1)
An operational test
(2)
A system adjustment
(3)
A system test.
B. The functional tests at the component level are in the applicable component removal/installation procedures.
(1)
The operational test procedure does a check for the correct operation of the cargo handling system in the forward and aft compartments without special equipment.
(2)
The system adjustment contains all of the adjustments necessary on the system. The component adjustments are also in the applicable component removal/installation procedures to decrease the references during the installation procedures.
(3)
The system test gives the adjustment specifications and the necessary performance for the system.

2. Operational Test - Cargo Handling System________________________________________
A. General
(1) This task is an operational test which has a fast check of the operation of the cargo handling system in the two cargo compartments. All checks can be done without tools or special equipment.
