CARGO AND ACCESSORY COMPARTMENTS - CLEANING/PAINTING

1. General_______
A. There are two tasks given in this procedure.
(1)
The first task gives instructions to clean the forward and aft cargo compartments.
(2)
The second task gives instructions to clean the cargo compartment and cargo conveyor system on the main deck.

2. Clean the Forward and Aft Cargo Compartments____________________________________________
A. General
(1) This task uses a high pressure spray and a vacuum to remove dirt, fluids, and other unwanted materials from the cargo compartments.
B. Special Tools and Equipment
(1)
Vacuum Cleaner - Example: Dual Air Vac - Clarke Model TMDGU, Clarke Division Magraw Edison Co., 2800 Estas ST., Muskegon, MI 49441
(2)
Drum - 30 or 55 gallon capacity, mounted on casters
(3)
Hose Assembly - 6 foot length, 1 1/2-inch ID, with swivel connection to pump - Example: Graco Model 206-266 siphon tube
(4)
Hose - 50 foot length, 3/8-inch ID, 2250 psi working pressure with 3/8-inch pipe fittings at each end - Example: Graco Model 207-831
(5)
Spray Valve - 4 foot extension, nonatomizing fluid nozzle with 0.7-1.0 gpm and 40 to 50 degree fan - Example: Graco Model 208-008
(6)
Portable Airless Pump - Example: Graco Bulldog Model 207-463 Hydraclean Pressure Cleaner with 7.0 gpm output, 1200 psi working pressure,
10:1 ratio pump on Pneumatic Cart Model 208-156, with Regulator Assembly 206-199, Graco Inc., 60-11th Ave. N.E., Minneapolis, MN 53440
C. Consumable Materials
(1) Water base alkaline cleaner
NOTE:____Use one of the cleaners given below. Make sure the equipment in the special tools and equipment paragraph can be used with the cleaner.
