1 THE AXLE SLEEVE CAN BE REPAIRED IF THE WEAR IS NOT MORE THAN THE PERMITTED WEAR LIMITS. REFER TO THE COMPONENT MAINTENANCE MANUAL FOR THE REPAIR INSTRUCTIONS. REPLACE THE AXLE SLEEVE IF THE WEAR IS MORE THAN THE PERMITTED WEAR LIMIT (REF 32-11-32/401, WING LANDING GEAR; 32-13-26/401, BODY LANDING GEAR).

WHEELS - REPAIRS

1. General_______
A. This procedure contains one task to repair the brake sleeve.
B. Cracks and heat damaged areas on the axle sleeve can be repaired. Permitted repair limits apply to the heat and mechanical damage on the axle sleeve. When heat damage is repaired, you must examine the repaired area to make sure that all heat damage indications are removed.
C. Repairs for both cracks and heat damage are permitted on the same axle sleeve.

CAUTION:_______DO NOT GRIND THE AXLE SLEEVE. DO NOT INCREASE THE TEMPERATURE OF THE AXLE SLEEVE SURFACE.
(1)
Use a file to repair the damaged areas on the inboard and outboard bearing journals.
(2)
Do a check for heat damage on the bearing areas (AMM 05-51-10/201).
(3)
Use a file to repair the damaged areas between the bearing journals.
