F. Adjust the Parking Brake System

(1)
Adjust the parking brake system:
(a)
Align the rig pin holes in the rudder pedal arms with the rig pin holes in the adjacent structure.
NOTE: Use the crank for the rudder pedal adjustment to
____ move the rudder pedal arms and align the rig pin holes, if it is necessary.
(b)
Install a rig pin through the right and left rudder pedal arms and adjacent structure.
(c)
Push on the brake pedals until the pushrod lever on the brake pedal bus is against the stop (Fig. 501, Detail F).
(d)
Hold the brakes in this position.
(e)
If the pawls move when you pull the parking brake lever, adjust the parking brake pawls.
(f)
Adjust the pawls as follows until you get a clearance of 0.02-0.06 inch between the pawls and the lock pin (Fig. 501, Detail A): 1) Loosen the lock nut on the pawls. 2) If it is necessary, turn the pawls to get the specified
clearance.
3) Tighten the locknut.
(g)
Pull the lever to set the parking brake.
(h)
Release the parking brake.
NOTE: The parking brake must release when the brake pedals are
____ pushed to the stops and then released. The pawls must be clear of the lock pins on the brake bellcrank (Fig. 501, Detail C).
(i) Adjust the bumper stop against the pawl as follows:
1) Install or remove the washers to get a pawl lever angle of 2-5 degrees from the vertical (Fig. 501, View E).

If the adjustement of the parking brake lever is necessary, remove the access panel from the left side of the control stand. This will give access to the rod assembly for the parking brake lever (AMM 76-11-03/201).

If it is necessary, adjust the parking brake lever (Fig. 501, Sheet 4):
(a)
Disconnect the lower end of the rod assembly to the inboard lever (Fig. 501, Detail G).

(b) Turn the lower end of the rod in half turn increments to adjust the rod assembly length.
NOTE: Do not remove the cotter pin in the clevis end of the
____
rod.
1) Make sure you have a clearance of 0.005-0.040 inches between the top surface of the control stand and the lever (Fig. 501, View A-A).
(c)
Tighten the nut at the lower end of the rod.
(d)
Install the bolt, washer and nut.
(e)
Tighten the nut.
(f)
Operate the parking brake lever and linkage to make sure it moves smoothly.

Install the access panel on the left side of the control stand if you removed it (AMM 76-11-03/201).

Adjust the Switch:
(a)
Make sure the rig pins are through the two arms of the rudder pedal.
