Examine the axle sleeve at the bearing support area for worn parts (AMM 32-45-03/601).

Examine the axle sleeve saw gaps.
(a)
If there is an overlap of an axle sleeve saw gap, remove and then install the axle sleeve.
NOTE: It is not necessary to measure the saw gaps on the
____ axle sleeve for a wear dimension. After many landings, the movement of the wheels can cause the saw gaps on the axle sleeve to compress. This condition is permitted, and no correction is necessary.
H. Install the Tire/Wheel Assembly for the Nose Gear

WARNING: IT IS RECOMMENDED THAT YOU REMOVE ONLY ONE WHEEL/TIRE
_______ ASSEMBLY FROM THE NOSE GEAR AT A TIME. IF YOU REMOVE THE TWO WHEEL/TIRE ASSEMBLIES FROM THE NOSE GEAR AT THE SAME TIME, THIS CAN CAUSE STRUCTURAL DAMAGE AND/OR INJURY TO PERSONS IF THE AIRPLANE FALLS.
(1) Do the steps that follow to install the tire/wheel assembly on the nose landing gear:
CAUTION:_______MAKE SURE TO INSTALL THE SPACER. IF THE SPACER IS NOT INSTALLED, A LOOSE WHEEL BEARING CAN CAUSE FAILURE OF THE BEARING AND SUBSEQUENT WHEEL FAILURE.
(a) Make sure that the spacer is installed, on the axle inboard of the sleeve.

(b)
Apply a thin layer of grease to the axle sleeve in the areas under the bearings.
(c)
Install the axle thread protector.
(d)
Lubricate the grease seals (3, 19).
CAUTION: MAKE SURE WHEEL BEARINGS HAVE BEEN PROPERLY CLEANED,
_______ INSPECTED, AND LUBRICATED PER THE WHEEL SUPPLIER'S COMPONENT MAINTENANCE MANUAL. DAMAGED OR CONTAMINATED WHEEL BEARINGS CAN RESULT IN DAMAGE TO THE WHEEL.
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THE CORRECT NUMBER BEARING CONE IS INSTALLED
_______ IN THE APPLICABLE WHEEL HALF. THIS IS ONLY NECESSARY IF CORRECT BEARING PART NUMBERS ARE NOT CONFIRMED AND INSTALLED IN THE SHOP, OR IF THE BEARINGS ARE REMOVED FROM THE WHEEL PRIOR TO THE WHEEL BEING INSTALLED ON THE AXLE. INSTALLATION OF INCORRECT BEARINGS ON A WHEEL HALF CAN CAUSE WHEEL DAMAGE.
(e)
Install the bearing (7), grease seal (19), and retaining ring (20) on the inboard side of the wheel (1).
(f)
Put the wheel/tire assembly on the wheel change dolly and move it into its position and install it on the axle.
(g)
Install the bearing (2), the grease seal (3), and the retaining ring (4) in the wheel (1).
CAUTION:_______MAKE SURE TO INSTALL THE WASHER CORRECTLY. IF YOU DO NOT INSTALL THE WASHER CORRECTLY, THE WHEEL AND TIRE ASSEMBLY CAN BECOME LOOSE AND AXLE DAMAGE CAN OCCUR.
(h)
Install the washer (5) in the wheel (1).
NOTE: Install the washer with the small end of the taper
____ in the direction of the bearing. Make sure to align the tang of the washer with the axle keyway.
(i)
Remove the axle thread protector.
(j)
Lubricate the axle nut (6) threads and the mating surfaces of the axle nut (6) and the washer (5) with grease.
(k)
Do the steps that follow to install the axle nut (6) with the adapter wrench:
