MAIN LANDING GEAR TIRE/WHEEL ASSEMBLY - REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

1. General_______
A. This procedure contains two tasks. The first task removes the main landing gear wheel and tire assembly. The other task installs the main landing gear wheel and tire assembly.
B. The main landing gear wheel and tire assembly will be referred to as the "wheel and tire assembly" in the subsequent tasks.
C. It is recommended that you install equivalent tires on the same axle. Equivalent tires will touch the ground equally and the tires will have equal loads on them.
D. Axles and axle nuts can be modified to be undersized. Axles and axle nuts are painted yellow to indicate that they have been modified. You cannont replace a modified axle nut with a standard axle nut.
E. Axle wheel sleeves can twist in service which can make wheel removal difficult. When an axle wheel sleeve is twisted, the "saw gap" edges can protrude or overlap, which can cause interference with the wheel inner bearings. Refer to AMM 32-11-32/401 (WLG) or 32-13-26/401 (BLG) for axle wheel sleeve removal procedures.
