Install and lock the turnbuckles.

Install the nose gear torsion link apex bolt (Fig. 503).
(a)
Remove the holding tool from the torsion link.
(b)
Place the upper torsion link end into the lower torsion link end fork.
(c)
Lubricate the apex bolt shank and threads with grease.
(d)
Insert the apex bolt and screw into the threaded bushing.
(e)
Tighten the bolt hand tight and install the quick-release pin.

3. Nose Wheel Steering System Test_______________________________
A. General
(1)
This test is done to ensure proper operation of the nose wheel steering system. The test covers system clearance, system centering, steering rate, normal operation and towing provision.
(2)
Before beginning the test, the nose gear electrical ground sensing mechanism and steering system must be properly adjusted.
(3)
The nose wheel steering angle may be directly read on the aluminum foil marker on the forward steering collar.
(4)
The table that follows contains port/label and bit information.
(a)
This information is necessary when you do the system test for the steering system of the nose landing gear.
(b)
Bit 19 below shows if one of the electrical interconnect actuators for the steering system does not operate correctly.
