(3) S 286-029Examine the wheel for signs that it turned on a runway with no tire for one revolution or more. If you think this occurred, remove and discard the wheel.
NOTE:____ Damage to the wheel that has rolled without a tire accrues very rapidly in the vertical portion of the rim flange (C section). Even though no physical damage (cracks, etc.), except for runway abrasions, is evident, the wheel flange is severely weakened. The probable failure mode of a wheel so damaged is a disintegrated rim flange; therefore no repair is authorize on wheels so damaged, no matter how minor the damage appears.
(4) S 216-006Make sure the hubcap is not loose. (a) Look for a loose clamp. 1) Tighten or replace the clamp if it is necessary.
(5) S 216-022Examine the tiebolt installations for: (a) Loose tiebolts and tiebolt nuts (b) Damaged tiebolts (c) Tiebolt locations that do not have tiebolts.
(6) S 026-023If you found a loose or damaged tiebolt or a tiebolt location without a tiebolt, remove the wheel (AMM 32-45-01/401 and AMM 32-45-02/401).
(7) S 216-037If you removed the wheel, do the steps to examine the wheel with the wheel removed from the airplane (Ref "Examine Wheels (Wheel Removed from Airplane)" paragraph).
NOTE:____ Carefully examine the wheel for damage and broken parts.
