D. Prepare for the Installation

(1) If you replace the hydraulic pump because of a mechanical malfunction in the pump , do these steps:
(a) Replace the filter elements for the pressure filter (AMM 29-15-71/201), and the case drain filter (AMM 29-15-91/201).

(b) Flush the lines between the pump and the filters.

Lubricate the 0-rings, the shaft seal, and the threaded fittings with assembly lube or hydraulic fluid.

Install the O-ring and the union in the supply, the pressure, and the return line ports (if they are not already installed).

Make sure the drain line for the pump shaft seal is clean.
(a) Flush the line if it is necessary.
E. Procedure

(1) Fill the pump approximately half full with hydraulic fluid before you install it.
NOTE: Fill the pump through all of the ports.

Install the O-ring in the pump mounting flange (if it is not already installed)

Install the shaft seal on the shaft (if it is not already
installed).

On the pumps with the steel splines, apply the grease to the splines on the pump shaft.
NOTE: On the pumps with the splines that are not metal, do not

apply the grease.

(5) Clean all mating surfaces with the isopropyl alcohol, ethyl alcohol, CDG-110, CDG-211, FCC-55, MEK:sec-butyl alcohol (42:58), or Naphtha.

(6) S 434-020Engage the pump shaft with the engine drive shaft.
(7) S 434-021Install the QAD clamp and tighten it to the torque given on the clamp.
(8) S 434-022Connect the hydraulic lines to the pump.
(9) S 434-023Connect the electrical connector.

Pressurize the hydraulic reservoirs (AMM 29-09-00/201).

Run the engine at idle (AMM 71-00-00/501).

Make sure the hydraulic pressure becomes stable at 2925-3100 psi with the flight control switches in the OFF position.

Set the engine pump switch to the OFF position until the hydraulic system pressure goes to zero.

Set the pump switch to the ON position and make sure the pressure becomes stable between 2925 and 3100 psi.
