GROUND SERVICING SYSTEM - DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION

General
_______
A. The ground servicing system fills all hydraulic reservoirs from one location. The system components are in the right lower wheel well on the aft wall of forward bulkhead. The system has a hand pump with suction hose and a connection for pressure fill from a ground cart. There is also a reservoir fill selector valve and a ground servicing filter module.
Reservoir Manual Fill Pump (Fig. 1)

A. The manual fill pump is used to service the hydraulic reservoirs when pressure fill equipment is not available. The pump handle is integral to the pump and the suction hose is retained in brackets below the pump.
B. One end of the suction hose is connected to the manual fill pump. The other end is placed in a container of hydraulic fluid. When not in use, the free end of the hose is stowed below the pump.
C. The pressure fill connection is below the manual fill pump. This connection is used to pressure fill the reservoirs from a ground cart. A protective cap covers the connection when not in use.
Reservoir Fill Filter Module

A. Fluid from the hand pump and pressure fill connection flows through the filter module. The filter prevents contamination of the system during ground filling. The filter is a nonbypass unit containing a noncleanable filter element.
Reservoir Fill Selector Valve (Fig. 1)

A. The reservoir fill selector valve is a manually operated three-position valve providing selection of the A or standby and B system. The valve shuts off all ports in the closed position.

A. Functional Description
(1) The ground servicing system fills all hydraulic reservoirs from one location. A manual fill mode and a pressure fill mode can be used for servicing. The reservoir is filled in the manual fill mode with flow from a container of fluid using the hand pump. The pressure fill mode directs flow from a ground servicing cart through the selector valve to the selected A or B and standby system reservoir fill lines. B system reservoir is filled through the balance line connecting the standby and B system reservoirs. Quantity gages are mounted at A and B reservoirs for monitoring fill activity.
