Open the applicable access panel, 3302 or 3401.

(2)
Remove the filter bowl (with filter element in it) from the module.
S 034-004
(3)
Remove the O-rings and backup rings from the module.
(a) Discard the filter element and the O-rings.

(4) Clean the filter bowl.

Procedure
S 434-006
(1) Make sure the adapter in the module is tight. If it is not tight, do these steps:
(a)
Remove the adapter.
(b)
Replace the O-ring.
(c)
Install the adapter in the module and tighten it to 50-200 pound-inches.
S 644-007
(2)
Lubricate the O-ring and the backup ring with hydraulic fluid or assembly lube and install them on the filter element. Put the backup ring below the O-ring.
S 644-008
(3)
Lubricate the O-ring and the backup rings with hydraulic fluid or assembly lube and install them in the module.
S 434-009
CAUTION: PUT HYDRAULIC FLUID IN THE FILTER BOWL BEFORE YOU PUT THE
_______ FILTER ELEMENT IN THE FILTER BOWL. AIR BELOW THE FILTER ELEMENT CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO IT.
(4)
Fill the filter bowl approximately 1/3 full with hydraulic fluid.
(5)
Put the filter element in the filter bowl.
S 424-012
(6)
Install the filter bowl on the module.
S 424-011
(a) Tighten the filter bowl to 50-75 pound-inches and install lockwire.
