 (2)  
You must find the changes in the flow of hydraulic fluid (during different conditions of operation) to find the internal leakage rate for each part. There are three procedures to measure the flow: the ammeter procedure, the flowmeter procedure, and the amp-clamp and multimeter procedure.

 (a)  
To use the ammeter procedure, you connect an ammeter in series with one phase of the motor on the electric motor-driven pump (EMDP). To find the flow you measure the current , subtract the applicable system basic current, and use Figure 603 to change it to a flow.

 (b)  
To use the flowmeter procedure, you install a flowmeter on a hydraulic service cart and read the flow from it.

 (c)  
To use the amp-clamp and multimeter procedure, you put the amp-clamp adapter around one of the wires connected to a relay for the EMDP. You then read the current on the multimeter (that is connected to the amp-clamp adapter) subtract the applicable system basic current, and use Figure 603 to get the flow. One person can do this procedure from the Control Cabin.

 

 (3)  
When you read the ammeter, make a record of the value to the nearest

 0.1 ampere. Use Figure 603 to change current to flow.

 (4)  
If you use the flowmeter procedure, make a record of the value to the nearest 100 cc/minute.

 (1)  Do the Prepare for an Internal Leak Check procedure. For this procedure it will be necessary to read the flow for system A and System B at the same time. Thus, connect equipment to measure the current or flow to the two systems.

 (2)  S 866-149AIRPLANES WITH ISOLATION VALVES FOR THE LANDING GEAR; Close them (Fig. 604).
 (3)  S 866-259Close the No. 1 through No. 6 isolation valves (in the tail compartment) (Fig 604).
 (4)  S 976-260If you use the ammeter or amp-clamp method, do this step to determine the system B basic current:
 NOTE:____ This is the system B basic current, and must be subtracted from all other system B amperage readings before you use Fig. 603 to find the flow.
 (a)  Read the amperage and write it here:

 (5)  S 976-261If you use the ammeter or amp-clamp method, do these steps to determine the system A basic current:
 NOTE:____ This is the system A basic current, and must be subtracted from all other system A amperage readings before you use Fig. 603 to find the flow.
 (a) (b) (c)  Remove hydraulic power from hydraulic system B (AMM 29-15-00/201).Supply hydraulic power to hydraulic system A with the electric motor driven pump (AMM 29-15-00/201).Make sure that the pressure in system A is a minimum of 2800 psi.

 (d)  Read the amperage and write it here:
 Amperage _______________ (System A Basic Current)
 (e) (f)  Supply hydraulic power to hydraulic system B with the electric motor driven pump (AMM 29-15-00/201).Make sure that the pressure in system B is a minimum of 2800 psi.
 (6)  S 866-150Put the FLT CONTROL A and B switches (on the P5 panel) in the ON position.
 (7)  S 866-151Open the No. 1 through No. 6 isolation valves (in the tail compartment).
 (8)  S 946-152Stop until the flow is stable. (a) Read the amperage or the flow value for hydraulic system B and write it on Fig. 605 for step 7 (B Basic reference with isolation valves open). (b) Read the amperage or the flow value for hydraulic system A and write it on Fig. 605 for step 8 (A Basic reference with isolation valves open).
