Do a check that the aileron control wheel and control column can move freely (Paragraph 3).

Use a torque wrench and control wheel torque and force test adapter to measure the torque necessary to turn the captain's control wheel.
NOTE: If the adapter is not available, put a force on the control
____ wheel at a 6.5 inch radius. The torque is equal to the force multiplied by 6.5 inches.
(a) Turn the captain's control wheel clockwise from the neutral position. 1) Make sure that the force necessary to start the clockwise
turn is not more than 192 pound-inches or 29.5 pounds at
6.5 inches radius.
(b) Turn the captain's control wheel clockwise to 20 degrees. 1) Make sure the force is not more than 220 pound-inches or
33.8 pounds at 6.5 inches radius.
(c) Continue to turn the captain's control wheel clockwise to 40 degrees. 1) Make sure the force is not more than 256 pound-inches or
39.4 pounds at 6.5 inches radius.

(d) Continue to turn the captain's control wheel clockwise to 75 degrees. 1) Make sure the force is not more than 310 pound-inches or

(3) Measure the first officer's aileron control wheel for lost motion in the clockwise and counterclockwise direction from the neutral position.
NOTE: You can use the aileron control drum on the first officer's
____ control column to find when the lost motion device reaches its stop (Fig. 503).
At approximately 6 degrees of control wheel travel from the neutral position, the power control unit of the aileron slide valve bottoms out. It is then usual that more force is necessary to turn the control wheel.
(a)
Install the rig pin A/S-3 (Fig. 504).
(b)
Turn the first officer's control wheel.
(c)
Do a check for the initial movement of the right AA and AB cables.
(d)
When the initial movement occurs, make sure the control wheel turns 12 |1 degrees from the neutral position.
(e)
Remove the rig pin A/S-3.

Measure the movement of the captain's and the first officer's control wheels.
(a)
Turn the captain's and the first officer's control wheels clockwise through full travel.
(b)
Make sure that the first officer's and the captain's control wheels turn clockwise a minimum of 105 degrees.
NOTE: Turn the control wheels 105 degrees clockwise to make
____ sure the control wheels moves freely in the control columm and control wheel installations. A minimum of 105 degrees control wheel travel is required for the captain's control wheel to touch the forward stop. This large deflection can be necessary for certain flight conditions in manual reversion. The system reaches the aft stops at approximately 90 degrees. Apply additional force to turn the control wheels more than 90-95 degrees. The control cables stretch slightly when the control wheels are turned to the 105 degrees position.
(c) Turn the captain's and the first officer's control wheel counterclockwise from the neutral position.
