Tighten small nuts to 12-15 pound-inches.

Make sure the valve lever on each power control unit is at the center between the stops (Fig. 401). 1) If it is necessary, do this task to adjust the input rods:


 "Aileron and Aileron Trim Control System Adjustment" (Ref 27-11-00/501).

 CAUTION:_______ MAKE SURE THAT YOU INSTALL THE AILERON POSITION SENSOR ROD CORRECTLY. AN INCORRECT INSTALLATION OF THE ROD CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT WHEN YOU ENGAGE THE AUTOPILOT.
 ú  (j) (k) (l) (m) (n) (o)  Connect the autopilot aileron position sensor rod to the top input lever of the power control shaft with the nuts, washers, and bolts (AMM 22-11-29/501).Connect the autopilot actuator rod to the top input lever of the power control shaft with the nuts, washers, and bolts.Install the bolt assemblies, washers, nuts, and cotter pins to connect the top and bottom reaction links to the reaction support assemblies.Tighten the large nuts to 300-350 pound-inches.Tighten the small nut to 170-200 pound-inches.Connect the electrical connector to the trim actuator.
 (3)  S 864-009Make sure the rig pin A/S-15 goes through the two walls of the centering and trim mechanism.
 (4)  S 094-010Remove the rig pin A/S-4.
 (5)  S 824-011Do this task: "Aileron Artificial Feel, Centering and Trim Mechanism Adjustment Test" (Ref 27-11-81/501).
 (6)  S 824-012Do this task: "Aileron Position Sensor Adjustment Test" (AMM 22-11-29/501).

Adjust the Aileron Artificial Feel, Centering and Trim Mechanism

 (1)  
Release the tension on the centering spring to remove the artificial feel input forces.

 S 865-001

 (2)  
Do this task to pressurize hydraulic systems A and B: "Aileron Hydraulic Systems A and B Pressurization" (Ref 27-11-00/201).

 (3)  
Adjust the centering and trim mechanism:

 (a)  
Make sure that the captain's and the first officer's control wheels are in the neutral position.

 (b)  
Apply a tangent force to the captain's control wheel at 6.5-inch radius. 1) Make sure the force is not more than 2.0 pounds or 13

 pound-inches torque.

 (c)  
Tighten the centering springs equally at the eyebolts to get the artificial feel input forces.

 (d)  
Write down the artificial feel input forces.

 (e)  
Measure the force necessary to turn the captain's control wheel 2 degrees clockwise and counterclockwise from the neutral position.
