737-300/400/500MAINTENANCE MANUAL
Measure the movement of the captain's and the first officer's
aileron control wheels from the neutral (zero trim) position:
1) If the aileron control wheels are not in the neutral position, move them to the neutral (zero trim) position.
NOTE: Control wheel neutral position for maintenance
____ purpose is determined by turning the control wheel left and right in decreasing amounts until the neutral position can be determined by feel.
2) Make sure the control wheels turn clockwise 60 |3 degrees (10 |1/2 trim indicator units) from the neutral position in 24 |1 seconds.
NOTE: If it is necessary, apply a light finger pressure to
____ the control wheel while trimming the aileron to achieve the required 10 units deflection of control wheel. The light manual help for the control wheel to turn is to overcome possible friction in the input side of the control system which can be slightly greater than the force of the centering springs to hold the centering roller into the cam detent.
With full RIGHT WING DOWN trim input, do a check of the control
wheel travel:
1) Manually turn the captain's aileron control wheel 105 degrees clockwise.
2) Turn the captain's control wheel back to the neutral position.
3) Turn the captain's control wheel 75 degrees counterclockwise.
4) Make sure the captain's control wheel moves freely.
With full RIGHT WING DOWN trim input, do a check of the
electric aileron trim actuator in the main gear wheel well:
1) Make sure that actuator does not touch the centering spring retaining pin when you turn the control wheel counterclockwise.

2) Measure the force necessary to hold the control wheel at the 75 degrees position. a) Make sure that the force is not more than 21 pounds at
6.5 inches radius or 137 pound-inches torque. 3) Release the control wheel.
a) Make sure that the control wheel goes back to 60 |3 degrees (10 |1/2 trim indicator units) clockwise.
NOTE: If it is necessary, apply a light finger

(i)
Operate the two aileron trim switches to put the aileron control wheels back to the neutral position.
(j)
Operate one aileron trim switch in the LEFT WING DOWN
direction.
(k)
Operate the same aileron trim switch in the RIGHT WING DOWN direction. 1) Make sure the control wheels do not move.
(l)
Operate the other aileron trim switch in the LEFT WING DOWN direction.
(m)
Operate this same aileron trim switch in RIGHT WING DOWN direction. 1) Make sure the control wheels do not move.
