(f) If the left wing is heavy and high right trim is necessary, do one of these steps to change the shim thickness:
NOTE:____ The thickness of the shims on the inboard and outboard carriages must be equal.
1) 2) 3) Add shims to the left supports of the carriage bearing.Remove shims from the right supports.Add shims to the left supports and remove shims from the right supports.
(2) S 435-062Install the bolt with the washer and nut (Fig. 502).
(3) S 435-063Tighten the 1/4 inch nut to 50-70 pound-inches.
(4) S 435-064Tighten the 5/16 inch nut to 100-140 pound-inches.
(5) S 435-065Install the cotter pins.
(6) S 825-066Adjust the torque tubes (Fig. 503):
NOTE:____ A lateral trim correction for the FLAP UP position will change the flaps at the 15-unit position. To make allowance for this correction, adjustment of the torque tube is necessary to find the change in the control wheel position.
(a) (b) (c) (d) (e) (f) Pressurize the hydraulic system B (AMM 27-51-00/201).Put the flap control lever to the 15-unit detent.Release the pressure from hydraulic system B (AMM 27-51-00/201).Remove the screws that attach the coupling sleeves of the torque tube to the splines.Disconnect the torque tubes from the inboard coupling of No. 2 and/or 7 flap transmission.Do one of these steps to adjust the torque tube if the right wing is heavy and high left trim is necessary (Fig. 503).
NOTE:____ One turn (360 degrees) of the torque tube is the same as a 96-degree turn of the flap transmission.
1) Turn the torque tube to lower the right outboard flap.

2) Turn the torque tube to lift the left outboard flap. 3) Turn the torque tube to lower the right outboard flap and lift the left outboard flap.
(g) Do one of these steps to adjust the torque tube if the left wing is heavy and high right trim is necessary (Fig. 503). 1) Turn the torque tube to lower the left outboard flap. 2) Turn the torque tube to lift the right outboard flap. 3) Turn the torque tube to lower the left outboard flap and
lift the right outboard flap.
CAUTION: DO NOT APPLY AN END LOAD TO THE TRANSMISSION INPUT SHAFT

WHEN YOU INSTALL THE TORQUE TUBES. TO EQUIPMENT. THIS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE
(h) (i) Connect the torque tubes.Install the couplings.
(j) Install a lockwire on the coupling screw heads of the torque tube.

Pressurize the hydraulic system B (AMM 27-51-00/201).

Put the flap control lever to the FLAP UP detent.

Operate the trailing edge flaps:
(a)
Move the flap control lever from the FLAP UP detent to the 40-unit detent. 1) Let the flaps move to the correct position.
(b)
Move the flap control lever to the FLAP UP position.

(10) Operate the trailing edge flaps two full cycles and do these checks:
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THE MAXIMUM ANGULAR CLEARANCE BETWEEN THE
_______ BALLSCREW UPSTOPS IS 1/4 TO 5/6 TURNS. IF THE ANGULAR CLEARANCE IS MORE THAN THE SPECIFIED LIMIT, DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT CAN OCCUR DURING THE FLAP OPERATION.
(a)
At the FLAP UP position, make sure the upstop of the ballscrew nut stops in the range of 1/4 to 5/6 turns from contact.
(b)
At the FLAP DOWN (40-unit) position, make sure the downstop of the ballscrew nut stops not less than 1/8 turn from contact.
